ms are adopting Semantic Technology.<br />\n<br />\nThis presentation will
summarize five case studies, all within the last year, of the application o
f Semantic Technology at Financial Services companies. These five projects
have been implemented in three firms: an investment bank, a credit card com
pany, and a credit rating firm, and are well beyond proof of concept and ei
ther in production or headed there soon.</p>\n<p>The case studies represent
a very diverse cross-section of the kind of projects that semantics is app
ropriate for. The projects to be discussed are:</p>\n\n
An &ldquo;aboutness&rdquo; engine to help classify document repositories fo
 r retention planning\n	The basis of a 360-degree view of a customer\n
The seed for an NLP project to harvest semantic content from equity researc
h\n	A metadata repository to break a mapping log jam of over 100 systems\n
An integration platform for risk, policy, regulation, controls, fraud, and
 processes\n\n<p>Attendees will:</p>\n\n
Understand what is motivating financial services firms to adopt Semantic Te
 chnology\n
Be able to describe five very different use cases for the adoption of seman
 tics in financial services\n
 Be able to articulate the value of the &ldquo;think big/start small&rdquo;
 approach to semantic implementation\n
Appreciate the pivotal role that governance plays in implementing semantics
  in financial services firms\n
Agree that the time for proof of concept projects is over\n\n<p><br />\nOne
client used FIBO-V to seed their NLP application, one client mapped their
enterprise ontology to FIBO&rsquo;s class structure, and the third client d
id not use FIBO as it was primarily a metadata project.</p>\n
