ty.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=121&proposalid=9765\nElon Musk famously compar
ed artificial intelligence to “summoning the demon,” citing suc
h potential threats as robots harming or killing humans. But the examples n
eed not be so dramatic to demonstrate the need for regulation of AI. As I o
utline, the threats from AI are indisputably real, and regulation of AI is
both inevitable and necessary. The question is: how should AI be regulated?
In this presentation, I suggest potential frameworks for AI regulation and
discuss the advantages and disadvantages offered by these frameworks. I al
so discuss both the probable domestic and international consequences of how
America ultimately chooses to regulate artificial intelligence.
