 ty.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=121&proposalid=9762\n<p><strong>NOTE: This sem
inar continues from Thursday afternoon.&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<div>The venera
ble entity-relationship (E-R) modeling technique is very mature for SQL dat
abases&nbsp;but doesn&#39;t translate well to many of the NoSQL databases.
This interactive workshop will introduce the Concept and Object Modeling No
tation (COMN, pronounced &quot;common&quot;), an emerging modeling techniqu
e that has been described as a breakthrough and the future of data modeling
. COMN can represent the new structures that NoSQL DBMSs support, while sti
ll supporting traditional SQL DBMSs. It also has more expressive power for
modeling the real-world entities that databases are about.</div>\n<p>Topics
  to be covered include:</p>\n\n
Modeling notation for containment and multi-valued attributes\n
 How to model schema-less databases\n
How to model the problem space and the solution space, and the mapping betw
 een them\n\n
