 ty.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=121&proposalid=9539\n<p>The OFR strives to del
iver high-quality financial data, standards, and analysis for the FSOC, its
member agencies, and the public. In our mission, we face the challenges in
managing massive information from disparate data sources in varied formats
, with some supported by financial data standards for efficiency. In additi
on, the data are in silos, not transparent nor easily interoperable for fin
ancial stability research. The solution must include ontologies. Ontologies
consist of classes and explicit relations that connect classes to represen
t knowledge. Classes are key terms to describe universals in reality in dom
ains of interest to provide the data with meaning in an unambiguous, transp
arent, and consistent way. Ontologies are indispensable for any use or reus
e of data, including integration of data from multiple and distributed sour
ces. They empower the intended users to discover and understand the data. R
eliable queries using intuitive and flexible ontologies will impact efficie
ncy for working with data and integration. The presentation is structured a
 s the following:</p>\n\n	Information, data, and metadata&nbsp;\n
Data models and financial data standards&nbsp;\n
Ontologies (semantic data model) and taxonomies&nbsp;\n
W3C standards (OWL, RDFS, and RDF) and components&nbsp;\n
Best practices in ontology development and governance&nbsp;\n
Semantic metadata management and data operations ontologies project\n
Demo: ontologies and queries\n	Next steps and Q&amp;A\n\n
